Day in the Life - Community Shop.
Community Shop, the award-winning social enterprise of Company Shop Group, engaged us to create a series of films as part of a broader strategic campaign titled The Surplus Effect. This campaign aimed to highlight the far-reaching impact of surplus redistribution across all areas of the business. For Community Shop, this meant showcasing how their work goes beyond providing discounted food, and telling the powerful, human stories of their members and employees.
The challenge was to present these stories in a way that felt both authentic and respectful, while driving home the profound difference Community Shop makes in its members’ lives.
We worked closely with our production partner, Manto Films, to bring three member stories to life. Each story was paired with the Community Shop employee who had supported them on their journey, adding depth and authenticity to the narrative. Drawing on our years of insight into the organisation, we crafted a series of 'Day in the Life' and 'Meet the Team' films, each focusing on the people behind the solutions rather than just the outcomes.
Our approach centred on amplifying Community Shop's human touch, offering a unique perspective in a sector often dominated by faceless statistics. By shifting the focus to individuals - their struggles, growth, and successes - we were able to underline Community Shop's unique difference in providing 'a hand up, not a handout.'
